Welcome to Nutrition Services!

WE BELIEVE in the positive connection between GOOD NUTRITION and READINESS TO LEARN .  Nutrition Services is a vital part of the overall goals of our school system.

Clay County Schools' Nutrition Services employees are committed to providing safe, nutritionally balanced, appealing and affordable meals for our students in an environment that is friendly, safe, and attractive.  Promoting life-long healthful eating  habits is our mission.

School Nutrition Services operates as a self-supporting, non-profit business within the school district.  169,000 lunches and 65,000 breakfasts were served last school year.

We operate under the guidelines of Food & Nutrition Service (FNS) of The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), offering the following programs for Clay County Students:

  • The National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs  provides meals designed to meet one-third and one-fourth of the daily recommended levels of  major nutrients.  Students have the opportunity to apply for free or reduced-price meals based on household size and income.
  • The North Carolina Kindergarten Breakfast Program provides free breakfast for all kindergarten children with the goal of readying young minds and bodies for learning by building good breakfast habits.
