The school counselor at Hayesville Middle School helps students make intelligent decisions about their own personal adjustment problems and their educational plans.
Each student has the ability, right, and responsibility to make his/her own decisions, and the counselor's function is to help students better understand themselves and their motives and to make the best choice when faced with a decision. The counselor will not make the decision for the student and will not guarantee that all problems will be solved.
Students may visit the guidance counselor after securing permission from the teacher and receiving an appointment time from the administration or school counselor. Students may visit the counselor one time without the school notifying the parent(s). Parents will be notified and included in the counseling process after a first initial visit. If parent(s) do not want their child to visit the counselor one time without their knowledge, please notify the school.
Parents and teachers can also make referrals to the guidance counselor. Parents should notify the student’s teacher or the middle school administrators. return to top

Hayesville Middle School is networked and all sites are connected to the Internet via a T-1 line. We have 2 computer labs with 32 computers in each lab. All classrooms have computers and we have several locations with 6 to 8 computers for small group usage.
Our goal is for technology to nurture and empower the development of students to become self-directed learners, complex thinkers, quality producers, collaborative workers and community contributors. We know that students accustomed to using computers demonstrate greater problem solving and critical thinking skills.
We want to further our student’s already high academic achievement through the infusion of technology into all our teaching and learning endeavors, as well as adding new experiences. Our students have mainstreamed access to universal information. Our students use appropriate technology for research, communication, publishing and presentation of acquired knowledge in all disciplines. return to top
